Glavé & Holmes Architecture (G&HA) is pleased to recognize the achievements and promotions of eight of our employees.
Steven Blashfield, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has been promoted from Senior Associate to Principal at Glavé & Holmes Architecture. He directs the Cultural Studio, focusing on the revitalization and new construction of places that draw communities together. After 12 years living and working on Nantucket Island, he joined G&HA bringing his extensive background in historic preservation and contextual design. Blashfield earned his dual master’s degrees in Architecture and Historic Preservation from the University of Oregon. He is involved in the Virginia Association of Museums and serves on the Board of Trustees at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens.
Jill Nolt, AIA, LEED Green Associate, has been promoted from Senior Associate to Principal. She joined the firm in 2014 as the Associate Director of Higher Education and was quickly elevated to her current role as the second Director of Higher Education. A registered architect and landscape architect with nearly two decades of experience, Nolt earned her Bachelor of Architecture and dual master’s degrees in Architecture and Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. She is currently involved with the City of Richmond Urban Design Committee, Richmond Women in Design, AIA Richmond Chapter, and the University of Virginia Dean’s Advisory Board.
Robert J. Parise, AIA, has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. As a Project Manager and Project Architect in the Urban Architecture Studio with 19 years of experience, he has worked on a broad range of projects including hospitality, multi-family, residential, mixed-use, and performing arts facilities. Parise earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and serves as a board member for the Virginia Downtown Development Association.
Jessica L. Ritter, CID, IIDA, LEED AP BD+C, has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. An interior designer with more than a decade of interior design experience, she has had a hand in everything from hospitality, higher education, commercial, institutional, adaptive reuse, sports, and healthcare project types. She has been a guest lecturer at Virginia Commonwealth University and served on the International Interior Design Association Board of Directors.
Winnie Ma Sung, AIA, CCS, CCCA, LEED AP BD+C, has been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. For more than 25 years, Sung has led the steady growth of a dynamic architectural skills, focusing on technical and design excellence. With a strong attention to detail, she currently serves as the Director of Quality and directs staff training within the firm through G&HA University, oversees quality review of contract documents, and maintains the firm’s Quality Management System. Sung has specialized in creative, unique solutions for diverse project types. Her project scale ranges from trellis design to high-rise buildings. Sung is actively involved in the Richmond Chapter of the Construction Specification Institute.
Mindy Carter, CID, LEED AP, has been promoted to an Associate. Prior to earning her Masters of Fine Arts in Interior Design and becoming a Certified Interior Designer, she worked in client services and account management in the advertising field. Carter has a keen eye for detail and a devotion to her clients, which helps her steward their projects to their fullest potential. She maintains a studious awareness of new products and design options for a variety of market sectors.
Nickolas D. Coile, RA, LEED AP, has been promoted to an Associate. Coile works as a Project Architect and Project Manager in the Cultural Studio and brings his knowledge of architectural design and aesthetic vision along with solid project management experience to produce a design that meets each client’s expectations. His work has received national, regional and local design awards. Coile earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. He is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects.
Fernando Viego, AIA, NCARB, CSI, CDT, has been promoted to an Associate. He works as a Project Architect and Project Manager in the Cultural Studio where he exercises his passion for architectural adaptive re-use, architectural preservation, and contextual design. His work focuses on the renewal of cultural places through the thoughtful rehabilitation of existing structures and additions. Viego earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture from North Carolina State University. He was recently named first vice president/president elect of AIA Richmond.
